TR 2025 brought chilly temps and absences from a few very missed families, but as anticipated, the weekend continued to delivery on good times, gut laughs and priceless memories! With no official Serbian blood in attendance, we all had to harness our inner Serbian spirit and THAT. WE. DID! Friday night was once again full of energy and optimism for the great weekend ahead. With a bit more fluidity in arrival and departure times, we kept the flow of events rather loose. We were able to squeeze in a pre-hike photo on Saturday afternoon with full representation from the men and boys of Serb Fest.

On Saturday evening, the Founding Members agreed on the nomination and approval of the 2025 recipient of the Jovan Zelenkovich Memorial Golden Cevapcici Award. A groundbreaking decision, Julie Berger took home the coveted award as the first female recipient, coming on the 20th anniversary of her TR debut where she broke the "relationship barrier" amongst the 2nd Gen men, who to that point had treated TR as somewhat of a "guys weekend", despite Monica and friends being in the mix as well as, of course, the family dynamic of the elder generation. While met with skepticism at first, the move proved to be the right one, paving the way for the family friendly dynamic we all enjoy today! This along with countless contributions along the way, perfect attendance over 20 years, plus the preverbial "feather in the cap Indian headdress" of being the actual sculptor of the award itself, made Julie a deserving recipient to say the least! On Sunday, the group was able to make a return to Sugar Creek for the annual beer float following a year off due to weather in 2024. During the float, young Joey Ecker would secure his grip on the 2025 Vince Kus Honorary Intellectual of the Year award with his unique energy, humor and unapologetic use of the twin birds! The TR Ranger staff was a bit more firm on the shut down of our outdoor festivities, but the group was able to mobilize elsewhere without missing a beat to keep the party going!

As the weekend drew to a close, we were able to not only look ahead to TR 2026, but was able to officially set our sights on TR 2027, which will triumphantly mark the historic 50th anniversary of Serb Fest! Stay tuned for 2 years of epic anticipation, paying tribute to 50 years of tradition, meat, laughter, family and Serbian culture! As the organizers of the Hill Valley High School's "Enchantment Under the Sea" dance in Back to the Future proclaimed, "Be there, or be square!" Zeveli, friends!
